Are You Considering "Full Price?"

Good morning!

Today's email includes:

--The concept of "full price" ⌛

--The hidden 90% of investment account statements 🫣

--Healthcare in retirement, denominators, and giving it away... 🩺

...and more...

The Importance of Full Price

We all notice the sticker price.

That bicycle costs $400. That's the sticker price.

And some of us think about opportunity cost.

You spend money now, but you could have more money later. A bird in hand vs. two in the bush. That's opportunity cost. If you invested that $400 instead, then you might have $10,000 in 50 years!

But very few of us think about the "full price." It's about more than dollars and cents.

And when you understand this concept of full price, it'll rewire your decisions about what to buy and how much to spend.

What I Look for On Investment Statements

You get a monthly statement from Vanguard, Fidelity, etc.

It shows what you own. How much it's worth. If it's gone up, down, or stayed flat.

There's some technical stuff on the back pages.

But these statements are like an iceberg. All that stuff I just named? That's the 10% easily visible on the surface.

The other 90% is vitally important - yet hidden beneath the surface.

Most investors are missing the most important information from their account statements.

This episode discusses what I look for when reviewing other people's investment statements. Not just the easy 10%, but more so the challenging 90%.

And I provide you with a quick five-question framework you'll want to quiz yourself on.

Tune into Episode 146 - What You're Missing on Your Investment Statements below.

The Top 3...

I enjoyed this content recently. I hope you do too.

Healthcare in Retirement

1) Fidelity's 25th annual Healthcare in Retirement study came out last week.

The upshot: their total lifetime healthcare estimate is up +7.5% from last year.

Denominators!

An important lesson for investors (and for life):

The denominator really matters.

It sounds nerdy, I know.

But we're so often misled due to the lack of a good denominator.

Giving it away...

Giving away money isn't easy!

"People talk about their childhoods, their families, their pride, their shame, and how to give money away without perpetuating the same systems that created the need for philanthropy in the first place"
